Dr. David Coronado was born and raised in Florida. He completed his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Miami in 2003. Dr. Coronado attained his first master’s degree in mental health counseling from Barry University in 2011, with a specialization in mental health counseling and marriage/family therapy. In 2021, Dr. Coronado would complete his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Health. He would complete his postdoctoral work at Lifestance Health and the Mental Health Center of Florida.
Dr. Coronado’s areas of focus include, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, burnout, grief, career concerns, men’s health, geriatric concerns, psychological testing and faith-based counseling. As such, he provides psychological testing and assessment to individuals ages 7 and up. Regarding therapy, Dr. Coronado provides psychotherapy services to individuals ages 13 and up. Furthermore, he is fully capable of providing all psychological services in English and Spanish.
His approach to psychotherapy is founded on the principles of the humanistic approach to treatment. He utilizes treatment paradigms such as cognitive behavior therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focused therapy, psychodynamic theory, dialectical behavior therapy and narrative therapy. His approach is holistic, integrating evidence-based practices with a deep empathy for each person’s unique journey while striving to create a safe space where individuals feel understood, acknowledged and supported.
